Candace Roney

Candace Anne Wilkinson-Roney has always been an artist.  At the age of six, her tempera work titled “King of the Jungle” was part of a city-wide scholastic exhibition at the Ft. Worth Museum of Art in 1956, but it took a trip to New Mexico in 1997 to show her the way to where she stands today.  A long vacation took her past, shaped it into the future, and showed her the path to take.

Candace's media is watercolor, sometimes in combination with gouache and ink.  After you have viewed one of her floral portraits, you will know that particular flower very well.  Her aim with each interpretation is to have the subject come to life as if dancing in the wind.

Her recent work has been an exercise in creative crop rotation.  In addition to watercolor illustrations for a book, she also finds the time for creative embroidery, glue maché, polymer clay and multi-media collages.  This break from her detailed, pigment-rich giant floral portraits keeps the fun aspect of art at the forefront of studio activities.

Gallery exhibits have been in Dallas and Wichita Falls.  Other memberships include the Wichita Falls Arts Council and the Wichita Falls Art Association.

Please view her work objectively at first.  Your honest and subjective opinion will then form from there.  As with all artists, Candace's work is part of her soul.
